Wine to be tasted.
On the porch; At The Porch.
It goes without saying, delicious food, great company and devine wine selections make for an afternoon of laughter, a spectacular evening and memories to last a life-time. The Porch Restaurant, a small intimate space, has been exploring wine alongside many guests at their wine tasting events. These events are ticketed, limited, and sought-after.
Most recently, The Porch Restaurant featured Argentinian wine; Including complimentary light bites, ready to be paired up with each offering. The selection consisted of Zuccardi Q Chardonnay, Zuccardi Torrontes Series A, Zuccardi Q Cabernet Franc and Zuccardi Q Malbec. With another sold-out event, there were three things the restaurant set out to accomplish: provide a great selection of wine, provide incredible pairings to accompany each wine and to have each guest enjoy themselves to the fullest. Each glass, plump, and above average.Served and delivered leisurely to allow our guests to mingle and enjoy the beauty Florida has to offer - with the soft sound of Nora Jones in the background. Set out to impress, the kitchen was ready to curate four separate appetizers to follow each glass; according to our crowd - it was a great success.
First, the Zuccardi Q Chardonnay served with Baked pear, cinnamon, and honey, rested over freshly cut crostinis, served with gorgonzola and a gorgonzola fondue. Next, the Zuccardi Q Cabernet Franc paired with a simple, grilled chicken, avocado, feta, candied pecan and squash filled salad - an easily paired dish to transition onward to the malbec. Now, the Zuccardi Q Malbec was one of the favorites of this event - holding the 2nd best. This wine was poured with a plate of steak bites, fanned over crostinis, with a delicious chimichurri sauce to really give it a punch of flavor, soon to be broken down by the grace of this incredibly creamy, dramatic malbec. Lastly, the absolute crowd pleaser; The Zuccardi Torrontes Series A, accompanied by a dusted lemon meringue tart with a curled and candied lemon peel - chosen to pair with a wine, not typically served with dessert. This pairing pulled all the best citrus and sweetness from the tart, making this pairing pleasantly surprising.

Friendly Pairings
From beginner to sommelier, many appreciate the wonderful, uniquely crafted and cared for wines of the world. When paired mindfully, wine can transform a dining experience and elevate it to the next level. The general rule of thumb for wine pairing is that reds pair best with red meat and whites pair best white meat ex. chicken or seafood.
When choosing a pairing, you will want to match the wine to the most prominent aspect of the meal. This means that even though chicken is most often paired with white wine, you might also benefit from pairing with a red. For example; If the chicken is served with an earthier sauce or seasoning, it's going to be richer. For this, you might want to lean into a red wine. A fair amount of wine connoisseurs recommend pairing wine with the sauce of the dish instead of the meat because there is a chance that the sauce can be more of the focus in terms of flavors.
At The Porch Restaurant, we have found an overwhelming response and appreciation for the wine list that has been curated, as it is verse and has something for everyone. A few popular choices include the Textbook, Cabernet Sauvignon of Napa Valley, California and the Slingshot, Cabernet Sauvignon of North Coast, California - These pair excellent with the filet mignon or the ribeye. Next, we have the Villa Maria, Sauvignon Blanc of Marlborough, New Zealand, this wine pairs well with all greens, from our delicious brussels to any of the incredible salads, more specific - The Harvest Salad. With over 76 bottles to choose from, there is most definitely something for everything on the menu with this wine selection.
Its staple to know, red wines have more bitterness, white and rosé wines have more acidity and sweet wines have mostly sweet notes. Here are some more recommendations when pairing wine: Chardonnay with fish, Cabernet with red meat, Pinot Noir with earthy flavors, Pinot Grigio with seafood, Rosé with cheesy dishes, Riesling with sweet or spicy flavors.
Above all, choose a wine you love. If you usually don’t enjoy red wines, then it's important that you keep that in mind. Follow your heart, start where you are comfortable and branch out from there.
